Aman Kumar, PhD

Dr. Aman Kumar is from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. He received his PhD in Human Trafficking and Migration in Nepal from the Centre for the Study of Nepal, Faculty of Social Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, India, in December 2019. In 2012, he began his work in Northern India through the Free the Slaves and Freedom Fund under the leadership of Dr. Bhanuja Saran Lal (Trafficking in Person Hero), who he is working closely with on the issue of training and development for government stakeholders on child protection in Bihar. Dr. Kumar has completed several articles, lectures, podcasts, and research papers on modern slavery in a different context. He extensively worked with the NHRC Nepal during the earthquake in 2015 to minimize the risk of trafficking in Nepal. He has extensive field knowledge and many years of experience.

Dr. Kumar’s main passion is in the social sector domain with the socio-legal subdomain. He was also awarded the Indian Council of Social Science Research New Delhi for a Post-Doctoral on Child Abuse and Child Trafficking in Bihar: Combating it by involving Panchayati Raj via Action Research. He also works as a community educator at Freedom Youth Family Justice Centre in New York. He is the Centre Coordinator at the Child Rights Centre at Chanakya National Law University, India's prestigious research institute dedicated to researching various issues experienced by children and women. Since September 2024, he has been working as a state consultant holding the domain of State Consultant for Prevention of Child labour, MHPSS and Cyber Safety in the state of Bihar.
