Ann Carrellas, PhD, LMSW

Ann Carrellas, PhD, LMSW is an assistant professor of social work at The University of Toledo, College of Health and Human Services, School of Social Justice where she teaches policy, practice, and social justice courses. At the Michigan Developmental Disabilities Institute located at Wayne State University, she served as a principal investigator and project manager for a variety of research projects including the Michigan National Core Indicators Survey and Project TEAM, a quasi-experimental research study of an empowerment program for teens with disabilities. Dr. Carrellas has over 30 years of experience working with children and adults with disabilities and their families in different capacities including direct care, case management, advocacy, administration, program evaluation, and policy development.

Identifying social and community supports as protective factors for youth who have intellectual disabilities in transition to young adulthood to promote positive outcomes and prevent sexual victimization and exploitation
