Youth come into foster care for various reasons, abruptly removed from a place of familiarity to a foreign community. This experience alone has made children vulnerable to detrimental outcomes, as they often come into state care due to their exposure to maltreatment, family instability, and several other risk factors that compromise their healthy development. This workshop will review why children in foster care are particularly at high risk to being sex trafficked and provisions that can be put in place to protect them from further trauma experiences.
