Rosario Sanchez received her PhD in Nursing from The State University of New Jersey – Rutgers University in 2021 and is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Toledo - College of Nursing. Her professional interests focus on forensic nursing and vulnerable populations, specifically human trafficking victims and survivors. Her current projects include her dissertation of the elopement process from human trafficking, two book chapters, and an active collaboration with Human Trafficking and Social Justice Institute at the University of Toledo. In addition, she serves as Operations Strategic Team Member and Co-Chairs the Membership Committee for the New Jersey Coalition Against Human Trafficking and is a Board Member for Saving Jane, a non-profit organization.
As a forensic nursing practice expert and researcher, she co-authored a policy brief on the human trafficking response by nursing for the American Academy of Nursing, assessed several programs’ outcomes, and volunteered during the COVID-19 Pandemic for the New York & New Jersey Medical Reserve Corp. Her contributions to the forensic nursing workforce capacity are evident through publications, education, and violence prevention initiatives, and she has been a recipient of several honorable awards.
