Stephanie Armstrong, PhD, MSN, RN is a nursing scientist and educator, specializing in the areas of human trafficking, women’s and infants’ health, and global nursing education. Her research focuses on the intersection of human trafficking and healthcare and has been published in peer reviewed journals and presented at local, national, and international conferences.
Dr. Armstrong is a member of the international organization, HEAL Trafficking, and serves on their Education & Training and Simulation Committees. She has trained over 1,500 healthcare students and professionals, nationally and internationally, on how to identify persons experiencing human trafficking, when they present for health care services, as well as how to respond in a trauma-informed, patient-centered, and strengths-based manner of care.
As a subject matter expert, Dr. Armstrong has written and provided reviews for new training materials, scholarly journal articles, and provided consultation on proposed human trafficking legislation to Representatives on Capitol Hill.
Outside of her work, Stephanie enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and volunteering for a local organization that assists children entering the foster care system.
