The historical trafficking of Native girls and women began with Columbus and spread throughout the US, making it central to colonization, sex trafficking, and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. This presentation will cover the history and current reality of sex-trafficked Native youth, including Two-Spirits. Solutions unique to Native communities regarding prevention, research, culturally-specific services, and collaboration among Native communities and allies will also be outlined. The presenter will draw upon her organizing experience as a Native woman, survivor of youth sex trafficking, writer, researcher, and organizer. She will provide specific examples of what has worked in her community and lead a group discussion about action steps attendees can initiate in their communities.
